The Graduation Ceremony of No 67 Junior Command and Staff Course was held at the JC & SC Auditorium, SLAF Academy China Bay today (30 July 2021). Air Commodore J P Balasooriya USP,MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, BSc (Def Stu) in Mgt the Director Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.

The ceremony marked the end of the 14-week long course attended by a total of 31 Officers out of which, 29 Officers from Sri Lanka Air Force in the ranks of Squadron Leader and Flight Lieutenant and two officers from the Sri Lanka Navy.

Course No 67 was the fourth course to be conducted as a hybrid e-learning/contact class. After two weeks of e-Learning while completing the quarantine the student officers started their contact phase. The officers proceeded for their Management Module for two weeks in the fifth week as an e-learning phase.

The Junior Command and Staff College is accredited to the Kotelawala Defence University and the Officers who fulfil the required criteria will be offered with a Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commanding Officer of the College emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge gained for the betterment of the Air Force and the nation and also stressed that integrity is a very high priority for Officers of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
All 31 Officers received certificates of completion and special achievement awards from the Chief Guest.

Squadron Leader LPS Aravinda (General Duties Pilot) received the special awards for Excellence in Air Power Studies, Best in Management Studies and the Best All Round Officer of the course while Squadron Leader WADNT Jayamanna (Aeronautical and General Engineering) received the award for Best Literature Review and Best Sportsman of the course.

Squadron Leader IC Ipalawaththage (Regiment) received the award for the Best public speaker whiles Lieutenant Commander WASR Wickramasinghe (SL Navy) emerged as the Best All-Round Officer of non-SLAF Category.
