The change of command of No 06 Air Defence Radar Squadron at SLAF Academy China Bay took place yesterday (03 August 2021). The event commenced with a customary Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade which was conducted at the Squadron Parade Square. The Outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain DNS Halahakoon USP, MSc (Def & Stra Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), Pg Dip (IR), psc handed over command to Wing Commander SMK Gunarathne psc.

Group Captain DNS Halahakoon took over the Command of No 06 Air Defence Radar Squadron in January last year and will be taking over Command of the No 01 Air Defence Radar Squadron at SLAF Base Katunayake.

Wing Commander SMK Gunarathne previously held the appointments of Officer Commanding Operations JY-11 Radar and Officer Commanding Training at Air Defence Command and Control Centre which are both located at SLAF Station Mirigama prior to being appointed as the Commanding Officer of the No 06 Air Defence Radar Squadron at China Bay.
