SRI LANKA AIR FORCE HANDS OVER TWO (02) HHOT UNITS TO NATIONAL HOSPITALS IN KARAPITIYA AND IDH

The Sri Lanka Air Force handed over two (02) Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy Units (HHOT) to the Teaching Hospital at Karapitiya and to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases at IDH Angoda today (31 August 2021). The handing over was done by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana. Consultant Gastro-Intestinal Surgeon at the Teaching Hospital in Karapitiya, Dr. Harsha Gamage and Dr. Chintha Sooriyaarachchi, the Deputy Director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases at IDH Angoda accepted the vital equipment from the Commander.
The Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy Unit was manufactured by the General Engineering Wing at Katunayake together with the electronical design which was done by the Electronics and Telecommunications Wing at Ratmalana. According to Dr. Gamage and Dr. Sooriyaarachchi, these units will be deployed at locations where they will be used to treat patients infected with COVID-19.
Today’s event was attended by the Director Health Services of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal (Dr.) Lalith Jayaweera and the Acting Director General Engineering, Air Commodore Prasanna Ranasinghe.
