NO 06 AIR DEFENCE RADAR SQUADRON AT CHINA BAY CELEBRATES 12TH ANNIVERSARY

The No 06 Air Defence Radar Squadron at SLAF Academy China Bay marked its 12th anniversary on 15 October 2021 whilst giving prominence to societal activities. The No 06 ADRS was formed as an integral component of the National Air Defence System, which was commissioned as a fully operational Squadron on 15 October 2009 at SLAF Station Weerawila. Subsequently the Squadron was relocated into SLAF Academy China Bay on 05 May 2012 in order to meet the operational requirements of the National Air Defence System.
The Squadron conducted several community service projects whilst conforming to the COVID-19 health protocols which encompassed a Shramadana campaign conducted at ‘Samudrasanna Wivekaramaya’, which was followed by a distribution of gift packs and lunch to the children at the 'Rewatha' Child Orphanage.
Signifying the 12th anniversary, a traditional Working Parade was held at the Squadron Parade Square which was reviewed by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander SMK Gunarathne Pg Dip (Def Mgt), psc.
