SANDAHIRUSEYA VESTED WITH MAHA SANGHA

The Sandahiru Seya which is located in the sacred city of Anuradhapura was constructed in commemoration of all the valiant war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in the name of our beloved motherland, Sri Lanka. This monumental stupa was vested to the Maha Sanga yesterday (18 November 2021) by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Force, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Prime Minister Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The spiritual ceremony held amidst the blessings of Maha Sangha was attended Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and Mrs. Charmini Pathirana.

Members of Maha Sangha including the Maha Nayake and Anu Nayake Theras of the Three Chapters, religious dignitaries from other faiths, Ministers and Parliamentarians, Ambassadors, State Officials, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Commanders of Army and Navy, Inspector General of Police, Director General Civil Security Department, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Officers from the armed forces, family members of war veterans, distinguished guests and devotees were presented on this auspicious event.

The unveiling ceremony of ‘Crest Gem’ and ‘Pinnacle’ of Sandahiru Seya, underwent during the evening of yesterday by the President and Prime Minister, amidst chanting of Pirith and ‘Shabdha Pooja’. Moreover, the President involved in several other spiritual customs such as; ornamenting the Relic Casket with jewelry, opening of Dolosmahe Pahana, vesting the Sandahiru Seya with Sambuddha Sasana and illumination of the newly constructed Stupa.
