The SLAF Base Anuradhapura conducted a blood donation campaign on 22, 23 and 24 November 2021 at the National Youth Services Council theater premises Anuradhapura in line with the 39th Base Day of SLAF Base Anuradhapura and the opening of the newly constructed Northern Air Command Headquarters in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Service under the guidance of Base Commander, Group Captain Amitha Jayamaha.

The campaign was conducted with the participation of Dr. Dammika Senevirathna (Consultant Blood Transfusion Medicine), Dr. Wathsala (Medical Officer In-charge of Blood Bank Teaching Hospital, Anuradhapura, Mr. AHA Munaffir (Senior PHI of Blood Bank) and Flight Lieutenant SF Nadiyya, Acting Officer Commanding Health at SLAF Base Anuradhapura.

The objective of this campaign was to donate blood to the National Blood Transfusion Service in order to cater the demand for blood products during the prevailing pandemic situation in the country. Nearly 400 service and civil personnel including, 207 service personnel from SLAF Base Anuradhapura, 75 service personnel from SLAF Base Vavuniya, 26 service personnel from SLAF Station Palaly, 48 service personnel from SLAF Station Palavi , 28 service personnel from SLAF Station Mullaitivu , 25 service personnel from SLAF Station Iranamadu and 29 service personnel from SLAF Regiment Training School Vanni representing SLAF establishments under the Northern Air Command contributed and the event was conducted in accordance with health guidelines for the prevention of spreading COVID-19.
