COMMANDERS INSPECTION OF AFHQ AND SLAF STATION COLOMBO

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana conducted the Commander’s Inspection of Air Force Headquarters and SLAF Station Colombo today (16 December 2021). Due to restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic the inspection which would usually be carried out over two days was restricted to just a day this year.
The Commander was welcomed by the Commanding Officer SLAF Station Colombo, Air Vice Marshal Dilshan Wasage after which a Ceremonial Guard of Honour was accorded to the Commander. Two (02) Senior Non Commissioned Officers, a Junior Non Commissioned Officer and an Airman received commendations from the Commander in recognition of their meritorious service to the SLAF. Their names are as follows.
Flight Sergeant Pushpakumara AD (Nurse I)
Sergeant Sameera BAK (Dental Technician)
Corporal Bandara MMSD (Computer Technician)
Leading Aircraftman Siriwardana WMRU (Air Photo)
The Commander inspected all Directorates and other areas of AFHQ. On conclusion of the inspection at AFHQ, the Commander departed for SLAF Station Colombo where he conducted the rest of the inspection. The Commander was welcomed by the Commanding Officer where a Ceremonial Street Lining was accorded on his arrival.
Commander visited all areas of the Station. On conclusion of the inspection, the Commander took a seat at the Airmens’ Mess with a cross section of Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian Staff for the customary All Ranks Lunch. The Commander then departed to the Officers Married Quarters Complex at Kollupitiya. After which, he departed for SLAF Guwanpura where he inspected the MT Complex, Married Quarter Complex and the SLAF Hospital.
The Commander departed Guwanpura and proceeded to the Air Force Health Management Centre and finally concluded this year’s inspection at the AFHQ Officers’ Mess in Thummulla.
