The President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa paid his last respect to late Air Chief Marshal PH Mendis (Retd) FBIM ,idc, psc, qfi at a private florist in Mount Lavinia today (19 January 2022). He also expressed his deepest sympathies to the relatives of the late Air Chief Marshal.

Moreover, the ceremony was attended by Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Chief Advisor to the President, Mr. Lalith Weerathunga, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Secretary to the State Ministry of National Security and Disaster Management, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, Major General Jagath Alwis (Retd), former Commanders of SLAF,  Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Military Officers and State Officials to pay their last respect.

The service funeral was held this afternoon with full military honours at the ‘Nisala Sewana’ Crematorium in Mount Lavinia.
