SLAF Base Katunayake Clinches Victory in the Ring

Spirited combat in the ring and true sportsmanship highlighted the Sri Lanka Air Force Inter Unit Wrestling Tournament of 2010 which concluded on 3 December, 2010 at SLAF Base Katunayake Indoor Stadium.
Battling it out in the ring, the airmen and women displayed their commitment and sporting spirit, with the wrestlers from Katunayake delivering an outstanding performance. Director of Dental Services Air Vice Marshal Asoka Amunugama was Chief Guest at the two day tournament which was worked off on 2nd and 3rd December.
LAC Chathuranga RH of SLAF Palaly was adjudged the Best Wrestler in the Men’s category while Corporal Waduge AWNA of 26 Regiment Wing of SLAF Base Katunayake walked away with the title of Best Player in the Women’s division.
In the coveted Inter Unit championship titles, the Special Operations Group Wanni led the scorecards with 15 points, beating the Runner-up from 26 Regiment Wing of Katunayake by just one point. The winners of the Women’s Inter Unit Wrestling Championship went to SLAF Base Katunayake who clinched 13 points while the Runner-up was the 26 Regiment Wing of SLAF Katunayake.
