The Change of Command of the Air Force Academy China Bay was conducted today (24 February 2022). The traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade took place at the Academy Headquarters where the outgoing Commandant Air Commodore V B Edirisinghe WWV, RWP, RSP and three Bars, psc, qhi handed over command to Air Commodore AV Jayasekera WWV and Bar, RWP, RSP and two Bars, USP, fawc (Pak), psc, qfi. Air Commodore Edirisinghe will be proceeding to Air Force Headquarters where he will be assuming duties as the Director Training of the SLAF.

The new Commandant, Air Commodore Jayasekara assumed office soon after the completion of the traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade. Air Commodore Jayasekara previously held the appointment of Base Commander at SLAF Base Ratmalana before being appointed as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay.
