SLAF RUGBY LOCKED HORNS WITH NAVY AT RATHMALANA

The Eagles pinned down Sailors and clawed out a critical victory scoring 12 points against Navy Sports Club at the Air Force Rugby Grounds Rathmalana during the Sri Lanka Rugby XVs Inter-club ‘A’ Division Rugby tournament held yesterday (25 February 2022).

SLAF and Navy scored equal during the first half 05-05 with 01 try by each team. Vimukthi Fernando drew the first triumph during the game. SLAF gave a well-deserved dominance during the 2nd half and kept the pressure on Navy SC by bringing the score at the last whistle 12-10 with another triumph made by Gimhana Silva and a successful conversion from Faris Ali.

The Rugby encounter was attended by Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Prime Minister Hon. Mahinda Rajapakse together with Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapakse and a cross section of Senior officers and other ranks of the SLAF.The game was played with strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.

The victory against Navy SC brings SLAF to the 03rd position in the points table of the Sri Lanka Rugby XVs Inter-club ‘A’ Division Rugby tournament.
