PERIPHERAL 28 BUDDHA STATUES UNVEILED AT SANDAHIRU SEYA AND SACRED RELICS DEPOSITED AT DEEGAWAPIYA STUPA

The sacred 28 peripheral Buddha Statues were placed at the Sandahiru Seya premises in Anuradhapura amidst the blessings of Venerable Maha Sanga under the patronage of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) yesterday (05 March 2022).
During the placing of the Buddha Statues, Venerable Maha Sanga performed the Atavisi Buddha Pooja and Bodhi Vandana.
The day’s programme also included the unveiling of the Buddha Statues placed in the Sandahiru Seya Buddha Shrine auspiciously during the morning hours and vested to devotees for veneration. Following the event held in the morning session, President, His Excellency Gotabaya Rajapaksa also arrived to the venue to witness the progress.
Meanwhile, today (06 March 2022) depositing of omniscient relics in the hemispherical dome of the Deegawapiya Stupa was also held at Ampara Deegawapiya Raja Maha Vihara premises under the patronage of Defence Secretary and Chairperson of 'Archaeological Heritage Management Presidential Task Force for Eastern Province, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) where special religious rituals were conducted for the sacred relics deposited.

Maha Sanga, Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana together with Commanders of the Army and Navy, Government Agents, Director General of Civil Security Department, military officers, Police officers, regional state officials and a large gathering of devotees attended to the occasions.
