5TH AIRMAN TO AIRMAN STAFF TALKS BETWEEN SLAF AND USAF CONCLUDE ON A HIGH NOTE

The 5th Airman to Airman Staff Talks (AAST) between the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and the United States (USAF), assembled yesterday (22 March 2022) at Air Force Headquarters. The Sri Lankan delegation was led by Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Director Air Operations of SLAF and United States delegation was led by Air National Guard Assistant to Commander of the Pacific Air Force, Major General David Burgy.
These Staff Talks are one of the most important events focused on strengthening the relationship and to see renewed dynamism to achieve expected goals between the two Air Forces in coming years. During the meeting, the two groups focused on enhancing regional security, future training opportunities and exercises geared toward strengthening interoperability and professional military education opportunities for both SLAF and USAF airmen.
Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa appreciated the support given by US Air Force throughout and highlighted the importance of enhancing the SLAF capabilities especially in the areas of Maritime Domain Awareness, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) and Cyber Security.
Major General David Burgy highlighted the importance of such events to deepen the partnership between the two nations and to ensure the security of nations in Indo- Pacific region.
