SLAF AND SLN CONCLUDE COMBINE EXERCISE WITH INDIAN NAVAL FORCE AT WESTERN SEAS

A combined exercise of the visited Indian Naval Ship “INS Sharda” with an Indian Naval Advance Light Helicopter (ALH) onboard commenced on 26 March 2022 with the joint participation of SLAF and SLN and was successfully concluded today (29 March 2022) at Colombo seas.  

Sri Lanka Naval Ship Sayurala and the onboard Advance Light Helicopter - IN 715 of Indian Naval Ship Sharda joined the exercise and mainly performed the deck landing and communication exercises between the ship and the helicopter.

The exercise was conducted to achieve the operational readiness and to enhance the interoperability between both armed forces during coordinated search and rescue operations, anti-smuggling operations in the Indian Ocean Region as well as to strengthen cooperation between both partners. Most significantly this exercise provided firsthand experience to SLAF pilots to undertake deck landing operations as a segment of the SLAF maritime operation domain. Also, this paved the opportunities to find collective solutions to common maritime challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.
