Eighty Officers and men of the SLAF were awarded the North Eastern Operations Medals in appreciation of their services to conclude the two stages of the now successfully completed operations.

The SLAF personnel were among personnel from the Army, Navy and Police to receive their Medals. HE the President  Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Hon Prime Minister Mr DM Jayaratne,  awarded one hundred medals each  whilst Secretary to the President Hon Lalith Weeratunge, Hon Secretary Defence Mr Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Service Commanders and the IGP also awarded medals  to those personnel invited for the special symbolic ceremony Held at Temple Trees this morning (14 Dec 2010).
