The SLAF together  with Department of Forest Conservation, Geological Survey and Mines Bureau and Special Task Force (STF) spearheaded to form a Forest Conservation Task Force under the guidance by Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana in view of preventing illegal deforestation in the country.

The preliminary discussion rounds commenced today (22 April 2022) at SLAF Headquarters which was led by Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Prasanna Payoe. The conference was attended by  Air Commodore Thushara Weeraratne, Senior Officers of the SLAF, Deputy Commanding Officer (Operations) STF, Senior Superintendent of Police WWMKS Padiwita and the Officials in the respective civil agencies.
