SLAF Vavuniya Annual Get Together and Children’s Party

SLAF Base Vavuniya held its annual get together and children’s party on 16 December, 2010 with a fun filled evening for children and the families of service personnel.
Air Commodore KFR Fernando attended the event as Chief Guest. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the Base Commander, Officer Commanding Technical Services, Commanding Officers of the Regiment Wing and No 02 ADRS.
Preschool children from SLAF Base Vavuniya entertained the crowd with song and dance. The concert was followed by a fancy dress parade for the children. Several games were also organized for the little ones by No 02 ADRS and No 11 UAV Squadrons.
The adults too had their share of entertainment in the form of a stage performance by a dancing troupe and a raffle draw.
The distribution of prizes for games and the raffle draw were done by Commanding Officer of No.27 Regiment Wing and Group Commander of Wanni. Meanwhile preschool children received certificates of commendation from the Base Commander.
Adding colour to the delightful evening was the highly entertaining event by Air Dogs. The celebrations drew to a close with the much anticipated appearance of Santa Claus who distributed presents to the children.
