THE WINNERS OF THE ANNUAL FLIGHT SAFETY POSTER COMPETITION RECEIVE PRIZES

The Command Inspectorate of Flight Safety under the leadership of Group Captain Poojana Gunathilake, (the Command Flight Safety Officer) conducted the Flight Safety Poster Competition and the Awards Ceremony at Air Force Headquarters today(08 June 2022). The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana graced the event as the Chief Guest where he awarded prizes and certificates to the top 3 winners of the competition.
The Annual Flight Safety Poster Competition was organized for the 13th consecutive period, with the intension of enhancing the awareness of flight safety amongst all service personnel in the SLAF.
The posters were drawn on an appropriate flight and ground safety themes such as Crew Resource Management, Passengers and Cargo Handling, Fire Rescue, Alcohol and Self-medication, Elementary Stresses, Corrosion, Disorientation, Stress and fatigue which are common in a day-today flying environment.
This Inspectorate received 261 posters and an expert panel of judges selected 13 finalists out of them. The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal MDAP Payoe adjudicated the final top 3 winners. The 1st 2nd and 3rd places were secured by Flight Sergeant Thilaka RGA, Warrant Officer DCM Gunawardena and Corporal Dissanayake DMMCB, respectively. Remaining 10 winners were selected as consolation prize winners.
Chief Flight Safety Inspector (Flying) Group Captain Madura Dias, Flight Safety Inspector (Rotor Wing) Wing Commander Venu Silva and Staff Officer Flight Safety (Engineering) Wing Commander Nandaka Wickramasinghe, the coordinator of the annual flight safety poster competition were present at the occasion.
