The Badges Awarding Ceremony of No. 48 Basic Airborne and No. 13 Military Free Fall Courses was held at the Drop Zone SLAF Station Ampara today (16 June 2022). The Director Welfare, Air Vice Marshal Hemantha Soysa graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The ceremony was attended by Commanding Officer SLAF Station Ampara, Air Commodore Waruna Gunawardana, Commanding Officer Parachute Training School, Wing Commander Vijitha Gomis, all officers and instructors of the school.

A total of 39 Basic Paratroopers and 17 Skydivers including 07 SLAF officers, 29 airmen, 02 airwomen, 01 SL Army officer, 05 SL Army soldiers, 04 SL Navy officers, 01 SL Navy sailor, 02 STF officers, 04 STF servicemen received their insignias to mark the successful completion of Basic Airborne Training and Military Free Fall training. Leading Aircraftman Perera MPAGS was adjudged as the Best Paratrooper of No. 48 Basic Airborne Course. The Director Welfare addressed the ceremony and congratulated them on the successful completion of the course and extended best wishes for their Airborne career. Air Force Sky diving team led by Wing Commander Vijitha Gomis added more colours to the event with an adventurous Parachute Display.
