AIR FIELD CONSTRUCTION WING (AFCW) AT SLAF BASE RATMALANA CELEBRATED 13TH ANNIVERSARY

The Air Field Construction Wing celebrated its 13th anniversary yesterday (20 June 2022). This wing was established to centrally coordinate and maintenance of all operational platforms (runways) to facilitate the decentralized operation of multifaceted SLAF Aircraft and the operational surfaces for its optimal operational efficiency at all times as planned by Air Force Headquarters. Presently this wing consists of 13 Civil Engineering Branch Officers and more than 300 Airmen, who trained in various disciplines in the Civil Engineering field.
The anniversary celebration commenced with the address by the Commanding Officer of Air Field Construction Wing, Wing Commander LPD Anurasiri and was followed by a Shramadhana Campaign and a donation of dry ration packs to “Yashodhara Lama Niwasaya” which provides shelter to orphan children. Another Shramadhana Campaign was conducted at “Sri Rahula Maha Vidyalaya”-Thelawala in par with the celebration. The anniversary celebration concluded with the distribution of Nutrition supplement packs among the school children.
