Commander’s Cup Inter Command Eleven ‘A’ Side Soft Ball Cricket Tournament – 2022 concluded yesterday (29 June 2022) at the Sports Ground SLAF Base Katunayake. The Cricket Tournament conducted from 20th to 29th June 2022 with the participation of all SLAF establishments representing three Air Commands in great enthusiasm and team spirit. This tournament had been administered as per the Sri Lankan Cricket Rules. Each team consisted of an Officer, Airmen/ Airwomen or a Civilian of the particular establishments in their respective Air Command.

In the finals, SLAF Base Hingurakgoda was bowled out for a score of 87 in 10 overs and 09 wickets. In reply, SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa scored for 88 in 08 overs 02 balls by 04 wickets.

The Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Prasanna Payoe, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Deputy Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Dushyantha Rathnayake, Director Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Director Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal Janaka Amerasinghe, Director Sports, Air Commodore Senaka Fernandopulle, Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore Lasitha Sumanweera, members of the Air Force Sports Council, all other Senior Officers and other ranks to witness the finals.
