Celebrating a year’s camaraderie, SLAF Station Ekala held its annualChildren party and family get together recently at the open arena with a fun filled evening for children and the families of service personnel.

Mr. Edward Jayakody and Mrs. Charitha Priyadarshani graced the event as Chief Guests and Mr. Jagath Wickramasinghe, Mrs. Sanjeewani Weerasinghe, Mr. Dayan, Miss Lochana and few famous artists attended as guests of honour. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the guests and the Commanding officer Group Captain Janaka Amarasinghe.

The evening filled with fun and celebrations provided both service personnel and civil staff of the station to meet with each other’s families. They were able to interact at leisure amidst festivities whilst entertaining their offspring and bringing smiles of joy to the children’s faces. The evening was filled with some spectacular activities for the participants both young and old, with a whole range of games, pony rides, little trains, Giant Wheel, Bouncers,Monkey Dances and an impressive fireworks display and magic show was conducted later in the evening. Food and drinks were galore with snacks, ice cream, were enjoyed by children.

The celebrations drew to a close with the much anticipated  arrival of Santa Clause who distributed presents to the children adding color to the evening. The Air dog show was presented with musical accompaniment bythe SLAF Beat Group joined by the SLAF Dance troop
