INAUGURATION OF “NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM – 2022”

The inaugural ‘National Defence College Research Symposium - 2022’ has been held under the theme of ‘Exploring Multinodal Security Dynamics’ yesterday (17th August 2022) at the Auditorium of Faculty of Graduate Studies, General Sir John Kotelawela Defence University. The event's entire objective is to expand the culture of defence research and foster an environment for the exploration of research concepts pertinent to the field of national security and strategic studies.

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and he was ushered by Commandant National Defence College, Major General Amal Karunasekara. The keynote address was delivered by Mr Lalith Weerathunga, Secretary and Senior Advisor to the former President of Sri Lanka.

The event was attended by Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Army and Navy, Student Officers of National Defence College, Officer Cadets and Scholars in the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.

The symposium serves as a catalyst to promote networking among academics, senior military personnel and police officers in order to communicate and exchange intellectual ideas about current security issues. The symposium provided a unique forum for the scholars to develop, sharpen and exchange their knowledge and expertise in various academic subjects that directly correlate with their academic curriculum.
