FIRE SCHOOL AND FIRE TENDER MAINTENANCE SQUADRON AT SLAF BASE KATUNAYAKE CELEBRATES 06TH ANNIVERSARY

Fire School and Fire Tender Maintenance Squadron (FS&FTMS) celebrated its 06th anniversary on 27th August 2022. The Fire School and Fire Tender Maintenance Squadron was established in 2015 at SLAF Base Katunayake with the primary vision of making a training platform for Fire Fighters and repair/maintain works of fire vehicles/pumps. Apart from that, the Repair and Development (R&D) Section at this formation undertake the repair/maintenance and refilling work of First Aid Fire Appliances (FAFA) and design with establishment of automatic Fire Alarm systems saving of millions of funds to SLAF.
The celebration of the formation day was marked with a religious ceremony with the participation of Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Aruna Perera, all officers and other ranks on 26th August 2022. The same was followed by a friendly cricket tournament, a volleyball tournament and followed with an entertaining event.
In parallel to the celebration, a “Shramadhana” campaign and a Fire Awareness Programme were conducted for the minor staff at District General Hospital, Negombo. A lunch was provided for the children at St. Mary’s Child Development Center at Welihena and they were entertained with the SLAF Calypso Band.
