INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF THE COLLEGE OF MILITARY ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY, SRI LANKA

The College of Military Engineering & Technology, Sri Lanka, a cohesive collaboration of the engineering arms of Tri- Forces, endeavours to formulate, regulate and articulate professional standards of engineering practices within the Tri Forces, in par with the Engineering Council of Sri Lanka and internationally accepted codes of conduct and standards.

The Inauguration Ceremony of the College of Military Engineering & Technology, Sri Lanka (CMETSL) held yesterday (13 October 2022) at the Eagles’ Lakeside Banquet & Convention Hall, Attidiya. The Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) graced the event as the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour was Chairman of the Engineering Council Sri Lanka, Engineer Thilak De Silva. The Inauguration ceremony commenced with the graceful arrival of the Ceremonial Procession.

The welcome address delivered by President of College of Military Engineering & Technology, Sri Lanka, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe who highlighted not only the inauguration of a unique organization, but also to recognizing the hard work and dedication of all engineering officers and other rank personnel, who are the key to the technological advancement of the tri-forces. The welcome remarks followed by the keynote address by Professor Kapila Perera.

General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), the chief guest, praised the interactive and cohesive way of achieving perfection among engineering professionals of Tri Forces and the civilian engineering associations of Sri Lanka and also he specially emphasized and paid his profound gratitude to Major General Renuka Rowel, the brainchild behind this fruition endeavour during his remarks. Moreover, the chief guest admired the commitment made by the Tri Forces Commanders to make this effort a success.  

The Secretary – Sri Lanka College of Military Engineering & Technology, Sri Lanka, Commander Darshana Dissanayake delivered the “Vote of Thanks”. The Inauguration Ceremony was coloured with the performances by the Cultural Troupes of Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force.

The Inauguration Ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Chief of Defence Staff, General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Vice Chancellor, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Major General Milinda Peiris, Director General Centre for Defence Research and Development, Major General Renuka Rowel, Engineering Officers in all disciplines at Tri-Forces ,Officials from Platinum and Gold sponsors in Cargills Ceylon, Dialog Axiata and SLT Mobitel respectively.
