The Annual Air Force Commander’s Inspection was held on 28 August 2009, of the No.04 Air Defence Radar Squadron at SLAF Mirigama.  The Commander was received into the camp premises through a street lining of airmen. The No 04 Air Defence Radar Squadron at Sri Lanka Air Force Mirigama was established as a part of the National Air Defence System of Sri Lanka and has been tasked to provide air surveillance, early warning to the Air Defence Command & Control Centre, close control of interceptor aircraft, provision of navigational/ weather information and assistance for rescue missions.
