The Nippon Paints Sri Lanka Rugby League 2022/2023 kicked off on 09 December 2022. The Airmen kicked off the season with the first match against CH&FC, during the opening game at Air Force Rugby Grounds Ratmalana, earning a stunning victory over the opponent team with 30 points against 22 points at the final whistle.

The Airmen were behind the CH&FC at the halftime whistle with a score of 06 points to 19 points with only 02 penalties were scored by Nuwan Perera. The  opponent  team was dominant during the first half with 02 tries and a penalty.

The well-deserved halftime break gave the Airmen the opportunity to bounce back robustly and dominate with 03 tries scored by Captain Ishara Madushanka, Gayantha Iddamalgoda and Isuru Jayarathne.

At the final whistle, the Airmen dominated the field tactically and brought up the stunning victory.
