INTER UNIT AQUATIC GAMES CHAMPIONSHIPS - 2022

The 50th Inter Unit Swimming and 19th Water Polo Championships 2022 were organized by the SL AF Aquatic Sports Pool and held from 12 to 14 December 2022 at Aquatic Sports Complex SLAF Base Ratmalana.
The first time in the Air Force history, the Triathlon sport was also conducted on 10 April 2022 at SLAF Academy China Bay. Triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of swimming, cycling and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially. However, SLAF Academy China Bay secured the Men’s Championship whilst SLAF Station Morawewa emerged as Runner up. The Women’s Championship was secured by SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa whereas SLAF Academy China Bay acquired the Runner up.
Inter Unit Water Polo Men’s Championship was secured by SLAF Academy China Bay whilst SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa emerged as Runners – Up. The Women’s Championship was confirmed by SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa when SLAF Station Colombo secured the Runners – Up. During the Inter Unit Swimming Encounter, SLAF Academy China Bay clinched the overall Men’s Championship while the SLAF Base Ratmalana secured the Runners – Up. The overall Women’s Championship was deserved by SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa whereas SLAF Academy China Bay received the Women’s Runners – Up.
Director Welfare, Air Vice Marshal KGDN Jayasinghe graced the occasion as the chief guest. Chairman SLAF Aquatic Games, Air Commodore Asela Jayasekara, Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana, members of the Air Force Sports Council, officers and other invitees attended to witness the final sessions and the awards ceremony.
