The Change of Command of the Air Force Academy China Bay was conducted today (19 December 2022). The traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade took place at the Academy Parade Square where the outgoing Commandant Air Commodore AV Jayasekera WWV and Bar, RWP, RSP and two Bars, USP, fawc (Pak), psc, qfi handed over command to Air Commodore SDGM Silva WWV, RSP, USP, MSc (Mil Stu), MSc (Strat Stu), BSc (Def Stu), Pg Dip (IR), fawc, rcds, psc. Air Commodore Jayasekera will be proceeding to Air Force Headquarters from where he will be proceeding on an overseas training.

The new Commandant, Air Commodore Silva assumed office soon after the completion of the traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade. He previously held the appointment of Senior Air Staff Officer at the Directorate of Air Operations before being appointed as the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy at China Bay.
