The Change of Command of the No 07 Helicopter Squadron at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda took place yesterday (06 January 2023) and the traditional Handing Over/Taking Over parade was held at No 07 Squadron premises. The outgoing Commanding Officer Group Captain SR Jayaratne WV, WWV, RSP, USP, MMS (Mil Com-PRC), BSc (Def Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), psc, qhi handed over the Command to Wing Commander VRS Vidanapathirana RSP and Bar, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), BSc (Def Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), psc.

The outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain SR Jayaratne took over the command at No 07 Helicopter Squadron on 15 October 2021 and will take over the appointment as the Commanding Officer at SLAF Station Mirigama. The new Commanding Officer, Wing Commander VRS Vidanapathirana held the appointment in the capacity of a Directing Staff of the Air Wing of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Spugaskanda before being appointed as the Commanding Officer at No 07 Helicopter Squadron.
