The change of command at No.06 Air Defence Radar Squadron, SLAF Academy China Bay took place today (12 January 2023) and the traditional Handing over / Taking over parade was held at Squadron premises. The outgoing Commanding Officer Wing Commander SMK Gunarathne USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), psc handed over the command to Squadron Leader BGDP Jayarathne MSc (Def & Strat Stu), psc.

The Outgoing Commanding Officer, Wing Commander SMK Gunarathne took over the command at No.06 Air Defence Radar Squadron on 03 August 2021 and will take over the appointment as the Commanding Officer at No.03 Air Defence Radar Squadron, SLAF Station Weerawila.

The new Commanding Officer Squadron Leader BGDP Jayarathne previously held the appointment of Officer Commanding Operations at the same Radar Squadron before being appointed as the Commanding Officer.
