SLAF SEVA VANITHA UNIT CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Charmini Pathirana, conceptualized and organized a special program for serving pregnant ladies in the Sri Lanka Air Force. The programme was held today (08 March 2023) at Eagles’ Lagoon View Banquet Hall in Katunayake. The Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Charmini Pathirana, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The main aim of this special programme was to donate essential items to serving pregnant ladies, including Lady Officers, Airwomen and Civil Employees, considering the prevailing economic conditions. The programme included consultation programmes conducted by highly qualified professionals in the fields of Dental, Medical, and Nutrition in the Sri Lanka Air Force. Group Captain Pradeep Jayashantha led the dental consultation programme, while Wing Commander Himali Mendis oversaw the medical consultation programme and Squadron Leader Shanaka Thilakarathne led the nutrition consultation programme.

The programme was attended by senior members of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Presidents of Seva Vanitha Units, and Officers in Charge of Seva Vanitha Units from other SLAF establishments, including SLAF Base Katunayake, SLAF Base Ratmalana, SLAF Station Colombo, SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, and SLAF Station Bandaranayake International Airport. Assistant Secretary of the Seva Vanitha Unit, Squadron Leader Kalhari Wijesinghe, and staff of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit also attended the event.

In addition to the main programme held at Katunayake, simultaneous donation programmes were held at other SLAF establishments under the supervision of respective Commandant, Base Commanders, and Commanding Officers.

This special programme conducted by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit highlights the commitment and dedication of the organization towards the well-being of its serving pregnant ladies. It is a testament to the SLAF's ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and empower women in the workplace.
