BADGES AWARDING CEREMONY OF NO.14 BASIC MILITARY FREE FALL COURSE, NO.04 ADVANCED MILITARY RIGGER COURSE AND NO.51 BASIC AIRBORNE COURSE

The Badges Awarding  Ceremony of the No. 14 Basic Military Free Fall Course, the No. 04 Advanced Military Rigger Course and the No. 51 Basic Airborne  Course  was held at the Drop Zone Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara today (28 March 2023). The Director General of Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremeratne, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The Commanding Officer SLAF Station Ampara, Group Captain Nishantha Priyadarshana, and Commanding Officer Parachute Training School, Wing Commander Vijitha Gomis, all officers and other ranks, attended the occasion.

A total of 74 paratroopers, including six SLAF officers, 47 airmen including two airwomen, two SL Army officers, eight soldiers, two SL Navy officers, four sailors, one Special Task Force officer and four STF other rank personnel representing No. 14 Basic Military Free Fall Course, No. 04 Advanced Military Rigger Course and No. 51 Basic Airborne Course, received the respective insignias during the ceremony.
 
Leading Aircraftman Wijesinghe TUK and Corporal Karunasena HKGSP were adjudged the Best Paratrooper and Best Free Faller Awards from the No. 51 Basic Airborne and No. 14 Military Free Fall Courses, respectively. The Director General of Air Operations addressed the qualified service personnel and congratulated them on the successful completion of the course and extended best wishes for the future. The SLAF skydiving display team led by Wing Commander Vijitha Gomis added glamour to the occasion with a colorful parachute display.
