AIR SCOUT PATROL LEADERS TRAINING CAMP

The Air Force Air Scout Group recently conducted the Patrol Leaders Training Camp from March 24 to 26, 2023, at WP/COL/ Thanniyagam Tamil School, Colombo 8. The event was a part of the Sri Lanka Air Scout Movement's 50th-anniversary celebration programs and was attended by 44 senior scouts and 10 instructors.
The training aimed to develop the leadership skills and knowledge of the scouts in various areas, including Scout craft, First aid, Map reading, Food preparation and cooking, Basic skills for outdoor living, Hygiene, and swimming. The event was organized under the guidance of the Chairman of Air Scout Movement, Group Captain Paminda Jayawardena, and the National Scout Headquarters Commissioner and Secretary of the SLAF Air Scout Group, Group Captain (Dr.) Rajeev Pagoda.
The campfire ceremony was graced by the Deputy Chairman of SLAF Air Scout, Air Commodore Sujeewa Ponnamperuma, and the Assistant District Commissioner of Colombo District and Senior Air Scout Master, Mr. Rohitha Stainwall. Moreover, the training camp featured four qualified guest lecturers, namely Mr. Neel Nandasiri - Leader Trainer of National Scout Headquarters, Mr. Geeth Ramesh - Assistant District Commissioner Planning of Colombo District, Mr. Nimal Fernando - Leader Trainer of National Scout Headquarters, and Mr. Miral Ariyapala - Assistant District Commissioner Media & Public Relation of Colombo District.
Overall, the Patrol Leaders Training Camp was a resounding success and a testament to the Sri Lanka Air Scout Movement's commitment to developing young leaders with a passion for adventure and service.
