SLINEX-23 SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDES IN WESTERN SEAS

The tenth iteration of the annual "Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise - 2023" (SLINEX-23), hosted by the Sri Lanka Navy, concluded successfully yesterday (08 March 2023) off the western seas. The final day exercises of SLINEX-23, held in the seas off Colombo for the sixth consecutive day.

As per the guidance by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Pilots, Air Traffic Controllers and RSF personnel were employed in this combined exercise with the deployment of Bell 412 and Bell 212 helicopters and a Dornier 228 from the SLAF as supportive elements while Director General Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremaratne, and Director General Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal Waruna Gunawardane, supervised the deployment of air assets and ground troops involved. In addition, an Indian Navy Dornier maritime surveillance aircraft and a Chetak helicopter also joined the exercise, apart from the Indian Naval vessels.

A number of exercises were conducted, including Joint Heli-Rappelling Training, Deck Landing, Visit Board Search and Seizure Exercise and Search and Rescue Exercises, displaying combined military cohesion and operational readiness. Further, both naval and air assets engaged in the exercise enhanced interoperability while also promoting regional peace and stability over the maritime domain.
