DEFENCE SERVICES RUGBY TEAM EMERGE VICTORIOUS OVER INDIAN NATIONAL RUGBY TEAM IN A FRIENDLY ENCOUNTER AT RATMALANA

The Indian National Rugby Team participated in training with the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force Rugby teams and finally participated in a friendly encounter with the Sri Lankan Defence Services Rugby team yesterday (24 April 2023) at the Air Force Rugby Grounds, Ratmalana.

The Indian National Team is undertaking a training tour in Sri Lanka from 19 April to 26 April 2023 under the supervision and guidance of the Ministry of Sports and Ministry of Defence.

The Indian Rugby Team was captained by Vikas Khatti and the Sri Lankan Defence Services Rugby Team was captained by Thilina Weerasinghe of the Sri Lanka Navy.

At the final whistle, the Defence Services Rugby Team had scored 31 points against the 30 points scored by the Indian National Team.

The Rugby match was graced by the incumbent President of the Defence Services Sports Board and Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Defence Advisor to the Indian High Commission, Captain Vikas Sood, Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Chairman of the Rugby Stabilization Committee, Mr. Chula Dharmadasa and other distinguished invitees.
