SLAF challenge National Basketball title after 23 years

Sri Lanka Air Force emerged runners-up in the National Basketball
Championship 2011 on 21 January; competing in the final encounter after
23 years.
The championship was worked off at the courts of Kingswood College, Kandy which saw the SLAF teams compete in both categories of men and women. Minister of Culture and Aesthetics, T.B. Ekanayake was Chief Guest at the event.
The men’s category saw SLAF pitched against the Mercantile team. After a fierce battle on the courts, SLAF was pushed to 2nd place with Mercantile emerging champions.
In the women’s finals SLAF took third position after Mercantile and Navy in first and second place respectively.
