The Dental Unit at SLAF Base Katunayake celebrated its 46th anniversary on 3 May 2023, with a range of community-focused activities. The event commenced with an Oral Health Education Programme for the school children of SLAF School Katunayake. More than 200 school children and staff members were also given toothpaste and toothbrushes to promote good oral hygiene practices.

The celebration also included an Eye Examination Programme for the school children, which was conducted using the mobile eye hospital by the optometrists of SLAF Hospital Katunayake. The children received comprehensive eye check-ups and were given advice on maintaining good eye health.

The day concluded with a musical entertainment program for the staff of the Dental Unit at 'Hideout' SLAF Katunayake. The Base Commander Air Vice Marshal Lasitha Sumanaweera and Chief Dental Officer Air Commodore Kumudu Weerasekara joined the celebrations.
