BUREAU OF DEFENCE POLICY IN JAPAN OFFICIALS CALL ON THE COMMANDER OF THE AIR FORCE

The Planning Office of the Bureau of Defence Policy in Ministry of Defence, Japan, Ms. Tomoko Matsuzawa and the crew called on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, today (31 May 2023).
During the meeting, Air Marshal Pathirana and the delegates engaged in productive discussions on matters of bilateral importance, which included the strengthening of defence cooperation and the exploration of enhanced training opportunities. Moreover, the meeting provided a prospect for further solidifying the partnership between the Japan Militaries and the SLAF.
Following the discussions, official plaques were exchanged between the Commander and the visiting dignitaries.
Subsequent to the formal proceedings, the visiting delegation met the Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal RAUP Rajapaksa and Director General Air Operations of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal RS Wickremeratne and also attended a special conference between SLAF and Japanese officials held at SLAF Headquarters. The bilateral discussions were focused on future institutional capacity building engagements at SLAF.
The delegation consisted of Assistant to Counsellor, Bureau of Defence Policy in the Ministry of Defence, Japan, Major Chihiro Fujishima, Staff Officers of the Japanese Air Self-Defence Force, Lieutenant Colonel Yoshiko Hiromoto and Major Takahiro Ishikawa and Defence and Security Attaché in the Embassy of Japan, Captain Yuki Yokohari.
