SLAF Station Weerawila which was established on 01 June 1978  and celebrated its 45th   anniversary yesterday (01 June 2023) under the leadership of the present Commanding Officer, Group Captain Suresh Jayasinghe. The celebration commenced with the customary working parade, where he paid tribute to those who commanded the Station before him and to those who served previously at Station Weerawila. He also emphasized that he expected the utmost dedication and commitment from all personnel at for the future development of the Station.

In line with the anniversary celebration, the stationery items were distributed among the monks as a Sangika donation on 31 May 2023 at the Nagaraweva Bodhu Raja Sambodi Wiharaya at Hambantota. Further, a multi religious programme, coconut tree planting programme and a friendly cricket tournament between the service personnel also held at the Station. At the same time, the construction of a water sump near to the main guard room was initiated under the guidance of the Commanding Officer as a Station welfare activity.
