INTER UNIT HANDBALL CHAMPIONSHIP 2023

The Inter-Unit Handball Championship 2023 was held at the Sri Lanka Air Force Health Management Centre, Colombo, yesterday (23 June 2023). The tournament was organized in two categories and seven Women’s teams and twelve Men’s teams competed for the championships.
In the Women’s category, SLAF Trade Training School Ekala emerged as Champions and SLAF Academy China Bay secured the runners-up position.
In the Men’s category, SLAF Station Colombo clinched the Championship and SLAF Trade Training School Ekala claimed the runners-up.
Leading Aircraftwoman Herath DSI, representing SLAF Trade Training School Ekala and Sergeant Wijesiri SA, from SLAF Station Colombo were awarded as the Best Players in the Women’s and Men’s categories in the tournament, respectively.
The Director General Welfare, Air Vice Marshal Suharshie Fernando, graced the finals and award ceremony as the chief guest. Commanding Officer SLAF Station Colombo and Acting Director Sports, Air Commodore Suresh Fernando, Chairman SLAF Handball, Air Commodore Rajinth Jayawardena, members of the Air Force Sports Council and members of the Sri Lanka Handball Federation attended the occasion.
