SLAF DISPLAYS CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY AT NATIONAL INDUSTRY EXHIBITION - 2023

The Sri Lanka Air Force actively participated in the "National Industry Exhibition - 2023" under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana which was held at the BMICH premises from 22 to 25 June 2023. The exhibition was organized by the Industrial Development Board with the objective of promoting and developing the industrial sector in Sri Lanka.
During the exhibition, the Sri Lanka Air Force showcased several industrial products that were developed in-house. Noteworthy among these were the Lihiniya Mk IE Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/Hand Launched UAV, a remarkable aviation-related product engineered by the Aeronautical Research & Development Wing at Sri Lanka Air Force Station Katukurunda. This indigenous creation symbolized the Air Force's capabilities in cutting-edge technology.
Additionally, the SLAF stall exhibited other innovative products, including wind-powered water pumping unit, the latest offerings from the Paper Recycling Project, products from the Coir Mattress Project, and domestically fabricated charcoal cookers. These accomplishments were the result of the hard work and expertise of the Research & Development Wing at SLAF Base Katunayake. In a remarkable collaboration, the No 28 Regiment Wing and the Research & Development Wing jointly developed an Electric Motor Bike, which was proudly presented for display at the exhibition. Alongside these industrial exhibits, the Air Force Museum showcased a diverse range of aircraft models, providing visitors with a glimpse into the rich aviation history and heritage of the Sri Lanka Air Force. Additionally, the Command Recruiting Office took the opportunity to disseminate important information regarding recruitment to the general public, contributing to the Air Force's ongoing efforts in personnel management.
Command Research and Development Officer, Group Captain Chandimal Hettiarachchi Commanding Officer Research & Development Wing SLAF Base Katunayake, Group Captain Nirosh Rajasinghe and Acting Commanding Officer Aeronautical Research & Development Wing SLAF Station Katukurunda, Wing Commander Jayaneth De Silva coordinated the exhibition arrangements along with the support of other Officers in the Command Research & Development Cell Air Force Headquartes Colombo, Research & Development Wing SLAF Base Katunayake and Aeronautical Research & Development Wing SLAF Station Katukurunda.
