Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd), along with Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, attended the inauguration of the second phase of restoring Deegawapiya Stupa and Neelagiriseya today (10 July 2023).

Following the inauguration, a security meeting was held at SLAF Station Ampara with senior security officials from the Eastern region. Both occasions were hosted by the acting Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Ampara, Wing Commander Prabath Molligoda, along with all ranks of the Station.

The occasion was attended by the Director General Ground Operations, Air Vice Marshal Waruna Gunewardena, the Director General Construction Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Udula Wijesinghe and other senior officers from the SLAF and SL Army.
