The Change of Command at the Aircraft Engineering Wing (AEW), SLAF Base Katunayake, was conducted today (14 July 2023). The traditional Handing Over / Taking Over parade took place at the Wing premises, where the outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain UCJ Piyasena USP, MSc (Elct Eng), BSc (Elect & Math Sc), Pg Dip (HR), Pg Dip (IR), psc handed over the command to Group Captain AKKR Abeysinghe BSc (Def Stu), psc.

Group Captain AKKR Abeysinghe previously held the appointment of Staff Officer Technical to the Commander of the Air Force before being appointed as the Commanding Officer of the Aircraft Engineering Wing. The outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain UCJ Piyasena, will take over a higher appointment as the Acting Director Trade Training and Commanding Officer SLAF Trade Training School, Ekala.
