SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION OF WORKSHOP ON MASTERING CEREMONIES AND PRESENTATION AT SRI LANKA BROADCASTING CORPORATION

The Directorate of Media of the Sri Lanka Air Force recently arranged a comprehensive Five-Day Workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of in house Compères. The event took place from 14 August to 18 August 2023, at the esteemed Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), renowned as a trailblazer in the field of Compère training within Sri Lanka.
Under the expert guidance of esteemed facilitators, the workshop proved to be an immersive experience. Mr. Indika Jayarathna, Director of Sinhala Service, along with the esteemed presence of Senior Announcer/Journalist Mr. Wasantha Rohana, Assistant Director Training Lieutenant Colonel Thushari Welagedara, Award-Winning Announcer Mr. Himananda Rajapaksha, and Director of News Mr. TDKA Jayantha, collectively enriched the participants with valuable insights.
The culminating event, held on 18 August 2023, at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, witnessed the gracious presence of the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Hudson Samarasinghe who adorned the occasion as the Chief Guest. Representing the Director Media of the SLAF, Group Captain Dushan Wijesinghe Senior Staff Officer Wing Commander Yohan Somawansa and officials of SLBC also attended for the event.

The closing ceremony was an exquisite showcase of the acquired skills, as participants proficiently managed the proceedings, a testament to their learning from the workshop. A highlight of the event was the distribution of certificates of completion to the participants, acknowledging their successful culmination of the program.
This marks the second instance of SLAF Compères undergoing formal training in the art of event compering at SLBC. The meticulously selected group of 20 participants, comprising officers and other ranks, underwent the course following an aptitude test evaluated by a selection board appointed by the Director Training.
This workshop stands as a resounding achievement, reflecting the commitment of the SLAF and SLBC to foster excellence in event hosting and presentation. The participants' adept handling of the closing ceremony magnificently underscored the success of the workshop and their newfound mastery of ceremonies.
