SOARING ACHIEVEMENTS UNVEILED AT THE BADGE AWARDING CEREMONY OF NO.52 AND NO.53 BASIC AIRBORNE COURSES

The Badge Awarding Ceremony of No.52 and No.53 Basic Airborne Courses was held at the Drop Zone Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara on 24 August 2023. The Director General Training Air Vice Marshal VB Edirisinghe graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The Commanding Officer SLAF Station Ampara Group Captain DSMLK Sugathadasa, Commanding Officer Parachute Training School Wing Commander MAV Gomis, all officers and other rankers were also present to witness the occasion.

A total of 86 paratroopers including 10 SLAF Officers, 42 airmen, 03 SL Army Officers 12 Other Rankers, 03 SL Navy Officer, 08 Sailors, 02 STF Officers, 06 STF Servicemen received their insignias to mark the successful completion of Basic Airborne Course. Leading Aircraftman Ekanayaka RMHP and Lieutenant (Marine) BA Wijayawickrama were adjudged as the Best Paratroopers from No. 52 and No.53 Basic Airborne Course respectively. The Director General Training addressed the badge recipients and congratulated them on the successful completion of the course and extended best wishes for their future.
 
Amid the celebratory atmosphere, the event reached new heights as the SLAF Skydiving Display Team, led by Wing Commander MAV Gomis, adorned the sky with a display of parachutes. The vibrant display transformed the heavens into a canvas of colors, mirroring the cheerful spirits of those who dare to leap into the unknown.

This Badge Awarding Ceremony was not just a culmination as it was a testament to the human spirit's ability to conquer the skies and embrace adventure with open arms. As the parachutes gently descended and the cheers echoed, the event etched a memory that would forever filled with the rhythm of brave hearts taking flight.
