The SLAF Women’s Judo team emerged as the Overall Champions at the National Novices Judo Championship 2023, which took place at the National Sports Complex in Polonnaruwa from 27 August 2023 to 29 August 2023.

The President of the Sri Lanka Judo Association, Wing Commander Manjula Prageeth Weerasinghe, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Assistant Secretary of SLAF Judo, Wing Commander HDTNS Hettiarachchi, along with SLAF Judo officials, attended the event to witness the occasion.

The championship was conducted across eight (08) weight categories for men and seven (07) weight categories for women. Nearly three hundred seventy (370) players participated in the event, representing twenty-seven (27) independent sports clubs, including the SL Army, SL Navy, SL Police, and other prominent Judo clubs in the country.

The SLAF team participated in both the men’s and women’s categories, and the Women’s Team secured the Overall Championship of the team event. The SLAF Women’s team won five Gold, two Silver and three Bronze medals, while the men’s team won one Bronze medal.
