The Change of Command at the Junior Command and Staff College SLAF Academy China Bay was held on  04 September 2023. The Handing Over/ Taking Over took place at the Office of the Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay. The Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay, the Acting Commanding Officer, Air Commodore NHDN Dias WWV and Bar, RSP and Bar, USP, MDS, Pg Dip (IR), psc, qhi handed over the command to Wing Commander VRS Vidanapathirana RSP and Bar, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), BSc (Def Stu), Pg Dip (Def Mgt), psc. Upon assuming the command, the Commanding Officer formally addressed the permanent staff and the Student Officers of the ongoing No. 74th  Junior Command and Staff Course.

The new Commanding Officer, Wing Commander VRS Vidanapathirana previously held the appointment of Commanding Officer No. 07 Helicopter Squadron at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda before being appointed as the Commanding Officer of Junior Command and Staff College SLAF Academy China Bay.
