The Change of Command of No. 01 Flying Training Wing, SLAF Academy China Bay was held today (21 September 2023) where Group Captain IS Mallawaarachchi USP, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), psc, qfi handed over the command to Group Captain RMCJK Rathnayake RSP,USP, MSc (Mgt), MSc (Mil Stu), Pd Dip (Def Mgt), psc, qfi who was the former Commanding Officer of No 3 Maritime Squaron. The Handing Over/ Taking Over parade was conducted at the Wing premises.

The outgoing Commanding Officer, Group Captain IS Mallawaarachchi, bid adieu to the SLAF after completing 25 years of meritorious service to the nation and accumulating more than 4500 hours in various types of fixed-wing aircraft at the SLAF.
