SLAF LENDS HANDS FOR A NOBLE CAUSE AT APEKSHA HOSPITAL
11:16pm on Thursday 21st September 2023
The need for a state-of-the-art, four-story children's ward complex is set to become a reality at Maharagama Apeksha Hospital, thanks to significant contributions from the Sri Lanka Air Force and financial assistance from the Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Dewalaya. The project was initiated in response to the inadequacy of bed spaces for children receiving residential treatment at the hospital.

The Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Dewalaya generously provided the financial assistance needed to construct a three-story ward complex, which was later expanded to four stories with the free labor assistance of the Sri Lanka Air Force. This stands as a testament to the SLAF's commitment to its duty not only in the skies but also to the communities they serve, with a view to developing infrastructure facilities in the health sector when the nation is in need.

The estimated cost of this four-story children's ward complex is Rs. 150 million. The Sri Lanka Air Force will be fully engaged in project management and construction, with an expected completion time of five months. The complex will also include a children's park for the well-being of the young patients. Additionally, nearby ward complexes will undergo necessary repairs and renovations.

The foundation stone laying ceremony took place today (21 September 2023) at the Apeksha Hospital premises and this meritorious event was attended by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, Minister of Health, Hon. Keheliya Rambukwella, the State Minister of Irrigation, Hon. Shasheendra Rajapaksa, National Security Advisor, Hon.
